Plains Cemetery

Location: Hartland, Vermont.

Plains Cemetery is just off route 5 going north
and has been documented completely by myself
for the Internet with the exception of the damaged Stones
the ones that are face down on the ground.

Repairing of Older Cemeteries:

Condition:
Weeds and Grass are grown up to where it makes it
miserable to walk in when wet from rains.
Stones are face down in some locations within the Cemetery.

The original documentation for certain surnames as taken from the
1930 original documentation shows them as being buried
at the Hartland Center Cemetery.

As turned into the Hartland office this data and these
individuals were not documented properly,
but show up instead as buried in the Hartland, Plains Road Cemetery.

When investigated, I found those individuals located in this search and manor.
This mistake was the “Old 1930” original data error.
Just a bit scary for a researcher to find!

One of the many reasons for the locale people to adopt a Stone Policy,
in correcting this type of  “error” information.

On the bright side, the individuals associated with the genealogy
and history of this town “Hartland” have bent over backwards
to achieve what they have accomplished.

Performance in Genealogy and History here is outstanding.
The persons responsible for this Genealogy and History
who I met were cordial in manor and helpful in assisting me in my research.

Number 10 of 15 Cemeteries listed.
Location is just North of Hartland, Vt. Off of Route 5, going towards White River Junction
.

Tombstones have not yet been read, this is way we need volunteers to Adopt-A Stone.

Note: Cemetry is the old spelling, as seen on the sign at the top of this page

NOTES:

The Old slate stones are better than the newer ones.
1.) * Astrix indicates stones not previously identified in earlier 1930 records from Hartland data.
2.) # Number has been assigned in order to show how it was taken.
3.) Some stones photo's have no numbers assigned to them due to the amount of damage, or face down.
4.) Just about all listed in this Cemetery are related to the LULL family surname.
5.) AE = at age of death, if listed on stone.
6.) Stones were digital Camera shot in June 2000 and still require data verification.
7.) Recondition of Stones require, repair work, re-written to surface, re-mounted and fenced.
8.) Spaulding and Spalding are the same family.

Authors Note.
9.) + Stone has been tampered with on the 1870 date to look like 1880 date?
10). Most of the data on the stones could be saved. Date: June ( 2000 y )
11.) Stones with no data shown here are real difficult to read or no data at all, “gone”.
12.) See my notes on families to Ipswich main set up page.

13.) I do have photos and I hope I live long enough to add them either here or Hartland Historical Soc., page.
